SEDA Consultation

Common Weal and the Energy Poverty Research initiative are seeking the views of stakeholders on our proposals for a Scottish Energy Development Agency.

We appreciate that, working in Scotland, it can feel like every other day that another consultation or call for evidence gets issued, and the time it takes to respond to them, so we have worked hard to develop a set of clear proposals around which we hope to be able to build sufficient consensus to be put before the Scottish Parliament, and we would like to express our thanks to all those who have given their time so far.

You can download the consultation document here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/18V5ICwF-RJeVSOHKcGMdxKhNW2YIMdg3/view?usp=sharing

Please complete the consultation document and return by email (to the address provided) no later than 5pm on Friday 13th March 2020.

We are aiming to analyse the responses and publish a response paper in early April 2020. This paper will set out the points of agreement and disagreement on the proposals, and any areas where further work is needed. These conclusions will form the agenda for a stakeholder workshop to be held in Edinburgh in May / June 2020, which will be used to gauge the level of consensus on any areas of disagreement and flesh out the final details of the proposals. At that point we hope that as many stakeholders possible will be willing to sign up publicly to a final proposal document that will be circulated to Ministers before the start of the summer recess.

Many thanks to all of you who are able to contribute to this process.

Dr Keith Baker
on behalf of Common Weal and the Energy Poverty Research initiative
