Readers of these pages may be aware that the Scottish Government is currently consulting on proposed 'reforms' to EPCs. This is an issue that we have been working and lobbying on for well over a decade and, indeed, that work was one of the reasons why EPRi was founded.
No single policy measure will do more to completely and critically undermine Scotland’s climate change, energy efficiency, and fuel poverty targets than insufficiently reforming Energy Performance Certificates. As the proposals in the consultation stand, even those which we have noted have merit, the proposed package of changes is completely insufficient.
In all likelihood this consultation will be the last chance we have to influence the design and implementation of EPCs for many years to come, and so this has left us with no choice but to act.
The gloves are coming off.
