The case of the national energy company, now announced and dropped twice by the SNP, is exposing the gulf between the SNP leadership and many of its members, the large majority of whom favour the establishment of an asset-owning NEC. This is something Common Weal has campaigned for for many years, and with energy prices rising and more and more smaller retail suppliers going under, it's not an issue that's going to go away anytime soon.
